BALOONING IN HIMALAYAS
Adventure activities.
Like a child's fantasy come true, giant balloons billow out
their folds and rise in the sky in colourful parade as
balloonist suspended in wicker baskets sitting gracefully
over the ground in their hot air balloons a la Phileas fogg-

the hero of round the world in 80 days.The average basket
can carry 2 or 3 person, but 10 can travel depending on the
size of the balloon, when alone balloonist can rise to
heights of 800 feet while those in ground may go up to
heights between 200& 500 feets.
The balloon club of India is located at New Delhi's
Safdarjung Airport and has 3 balloons and 50 members. Began
in 1970 the club has successfully organized international
Balloon competition and holds a balloon festival every
November and attracts participants from all over the world.
WHITE WATER RAFTING----
While water rafting came in India in 1984 when the Indian
River Runner's Association organised the Indo US Uttar
Ganges expenditure.
The term white water is
derived from the white foam that is thrown up due to the
increase of water flow over the river's descending story
bed. The river is tricky of times and various boats are
used for different kinds of waters. Kayaks (the k series
for placid water and the white water kayaks for turbulent
and rough waters) canoes (open from the top with paddler
kneels) and rafts made of inflatable material with 6
independent isolated chambers to insure safety. Strength
and stamina are of prime importance because participants
encounter currents which at times exceed 100km hour.
