Some fun children's poems

Here are some fun poems for children.

SECRET WEAPON

Life has it’s ups and downs
I know,
but I’ve learned a little trick.

The downs can’t hold you
very long,
if you’ve got a pogo stick!

JAM

How I love you
little dove.
This love will spread
like jam on bread.

(This poem was the first poem ever written by Steven Robert Heine. He wrote it when he was eight years old. After he wrote it, he received so much encouragement from friends to write more poetry that later in life he DID!)

CHILDREN

Are future adults
with future dreams,
who mostly talk about ‘someday’.

They’re troubled
by problems
much too small to mention.
But assure them
they’ll all work out someway!

CHOCOLATE DROPS

Chocolate drops
lollipops,
and bubble gum for two.

I love to take
my lady out,
and twice each day I do.

I pick her up
at nine o’clock,
and catch a quick cartoon.

And then we stroll
down to the park,
and frolic there till noon.

Some soup or so
a noisy nap,
and then I rush right back.

A cruisin cooly
in my brand
new three wheeled Cadillac.

We think we might
get married,
in twenty years or so.

We’ve been together
half our lives.
And we’re in love, I know.

This is just a fun poem of children pretending to be grown up while enjoying every minute of ‘being a kid’.

WORD FOR WORD

I'm carnivorous
omnivorous,
and omnipotent.
(That is at it should be).

But I wasen't much of nothing
till I both this dictionary!

This is just an example of having fun with words. The point of the poem is that words have great power!

Steven Robert Heine.
